Get lipi on your computer

After installing, typing lipi in any terminal works. Just want to try it first? Use the playground, no install needed.

  1. Open Terminal, paste this and press Enter:

    curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/RusilKoirala/lipi/master/install.sh | sh

    It downloads the right lipi for your computer (Intel or Apple Silicon, x86 or ARM), checks the download, puts it in ~/.lipi/bin and adds that folder to your PATH. No password needed. Run the same command again later to update.

  2. Open a new terminal window, then check it worked:

    lipi --version

Want to read the script before running it? It is on GitHub.

Your first program

  1. Save this as namaste.lip:

    rakha naam = "Sansar";
    bhana("Namaste, " + naam + "!");
  2. Run it from the same folder:

    lipi namaste.lip
  3. You should see:

    Namaste, Sansar!

Next, learn the language in the docs or borrow a program from the examples.
